New Features In-ride challenges

Turn every ride into a race by competing on Garmin Connect™ segments and seeing real-time results on your Edge 1000, including alerts for segment start and finish and leaderboard rankings. Edge 510 and 810 offer segment start/finish alerts2 when used within a course downloaded from Garmin Connect.

Bike-specific navigation and mapping

Edge 1000 has a preloaded Garmin Cycle Map with OSM (Open Street Map) content that includes routable road and bike paths, elevation data, points of interest and address search. Round-trip routing feature on Edge 1000 calculates up to 3 cycling-friendly routes based on a distance you enter. Route planner capability lets you create routes directly on the Edge 1000 using the map, points of interest and segments you’ve downloaded from Garmin Connect. If your area isn’t covered on the preloaded maps, optional topo maps are available for purchase.

Advanced training options

A preloaded power-based workout on Edge 1000 lets you calculate your functional threshold power (FTP), from which you can base your power training zones. It’s compatible with ANT+ enabled power meters like Vector. The 1000 also has a training calendar and is compatible with advanced workouts, which you can plan, schedule and upload from Garmin Connect.

Heads-up:

Mounting options include new out-front mount for heads-up positioning and standard quarter-turn mount. Edge 510 model includes tether for secure mounting, to ensure your device doesn’t travel far in the event of a spill.
